Outraged viewers declared it was time for him to "get off" the show after a conversation in tonight's episode left the make-up artist, 27, concluding that the doctor, 27, is no longer into her now new girl Laura Crane, 23, has arrived.
Sitting on the steps beside the hot tub, Alexandra asked Alex why he seemed to be "distant" with her all day.
She said: "I felt hurt today because I've been made to feel like there are other options for you, because you've been distant.
Denying that his feelings were changing now the surfer chick had arrived, he replied: "I just feel in general I don't want to move at a pace that's too quick.
"Someone coming in like Laura who probably is quite my type has made me realise I don't want to rush into a decision."
Those watching at home took to Twitter to slam the previously-popular contestant after they saw Alexandra admit their romance was probably over in the Beach Hut afterwards.
One wrote: "Can’t stand Alex he didn’t know what he wants. Please get him off #LoveIsland"
Another commented: "Wow @DrAlex2018 never thought it would be said "you need to go" #LoveIsland"
A third wrote: "Is it me or did alex just dump Alexandra #LoveIsland"
Earlier in the episode fans claimed Georgia Steel and Sam Bird "broke the rules" when they secretly kissed despite being banned from being a couple.
Viewers were left shocked during tonight's episode when the pair locked lips, even though they had been forced to split in order to remain in the villa.
The Yorkshire barmaid, 20, and personal trainer, 25, were seen chatting on the sofa beneath the same blanket.
After complaining about how difficult they were finding it to be apart, they shared kiss.
Georgia was then seen returning to the bedroom, leaving Sam to sleep on the sofa.
However, a Love Island spokesperson confirmed they hadn't actually broken any rules.
