Love Island receives over 500 complaints to Ofcom after Idris lied to Laura about that kiss

Viewers were horrified when newbie Idris Virgo lied to her about her partner Jack Fowler.

Idris was branded “sick” for telling Laura Jack had made a move on Georgia Harrison, when in fact the video footage showed it was her going in for the kiss.

As Laura has not seen the footage, she believed Idris and was left gutted to think Jack had lied to her about what had happened.

This afternoon a spokesperson for Ofcom confirmed they had received the high number of complaints and said they were assessing them.

It’s not the first time Love Island has been reported to Ofcom during this series, after 650 people got in touch with them after Dani was shown footage of Ellie Jones and Jack Fincham.

After watching last night’s episode, Laura’s sister Danielle told The Sun she was “seething”.

Danielle, 38, said: “I have been absolutely raging.

“I just want producers to show the VAR and get it over with.

“We have all been screaming at the TV saying ‘oh Laura, Jack is telling the truth.’

“I can understand why she is completely torn because Georgia is a friend.

“But Georgia actually believes her own lies – she believes they both went in for a kiss.”

Danielle believes Laura came close to breaking point when Wes ended their romance to pursue his feelings for Megan – and says her sister has suffered a dramatic knock to her confidence.

She said: “The hardest thing in the world for her was the break up with Wes and seeing him go for Megan. At the time I was so upset for her.

“Wes obviously felt he wanted to be with Megan more than Laura and there’s no problem with that but he could have gone about it a bit differently.

“He didn’t have to walk past her and sleep in the day bed with Megan the same night.

Megan was in the wrong – in my eyes she did do wrong.

“Laura has suffered a knock to her confidence. It feels like it has been an emotional roller coaster for Laura.

“We have seen her go through the biggest highs and the lowest lows and it is hard watching her.”

Love Island continues tonight on ITV2 at 9:30pm.
