Love Island sparks toxic femininity concerns as girls reduces boys to tears

Love Island has been caught up in a “toxic femininity” row after its stars reduced their blokes to blubbering wrecks.

Viewers have slammed the girls as “manipulative and cruel” after seeing them leave hunks Shaq Muhammad, 24, and Will Young, 23, in tears.

Contestants Tanya Manhenga, 22, Olivia Hawkins, 27, and Jessie Wynter, 26, were all in the firing line over “hypocritical” behaviour.

One male viewer said: “Emotional abuse and bullying is no joke – Tanya and Olivia need talking to.”

A female fan added: “I never thought I’d be siding with the men. Some of these women are toxic.”

Security guard Shaq was left heartbroken after seeing partner Tanya go off with rival Martin Akinola.

And Will burst into tears when the girls turned on him for cheating on partner Jessie with Layla. Viewers pointed out they hadn’t condemned Tanya for the same behaviour.

An ITV spokesman said contestants are trained in “behaviour”.

It comes after the famous South African villa was hit with a disaster as a terrifying wildfire has been raging in the fields nearby.

The £1.2 million pad, which is currently housing the latest batch of sexy singletons looking to find love, was just two fields away from the blaze.

Fortunately, the fire team rushed over to get the fire under control.

Since the scary incident, insiders said show bosses are on high alert following the blaze and that an evacuation plan has been put in place for the show’s contestants and crew.

A source told The Sun: “Fire crews were rushed to Ludus Magnus estate after a wildfire broke out just two fields away from the villa.

“The winds were pretty high so there were concerns the blaze could move towards the villa but the fire crews managed to get it under control.

“Wildfires are not uncommon in South Africa but it doesn’t make it any less worrying as they can be so destructive.”

The insider went on to claim the blaze burned for “around three hours” shortly before it was put under and control.

A spokeswoman for ITV told the publication: “A fire brigade has attended a fire in the local area.

“The incident is not on the Villa grounds. Love Island cast and crew are completely safe.”
