Lucifer season five is expected to be released very soon on Netflix as fans reunite with Lucifer Morningstar (played by Tom Ellis) and Detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German) once again. However, star Tom Ellis has revealed there are some tough aspects to playing the devil in the popular series.
What does Tom Ellis find hard about playing Lucifer?
Tom Ellis has played the role of Lucifer Morningstar since the series first began on Fox back in 2016.
Over four seasons so far, viewers have fallen in love with his portrayal of the roguish devil.
Known for his quick wit, singing skills and his utter devotion to Detective Decker, Ellis’ portrayal has been widely praised.
Previously starring in shows like Rush and Miranda, Lucifer is also Ellis’ biggest role on screen to date.

However, back in 2016 Ellis gave an interview revealing the role does have some downsides.
Speaking to the Belfast Telegraph, Ellis revealed how the filming schedule of Lucifer does impact how often he can see his children.
He told the publication: “Fatherhood is a huge part of my life and the toughest thing about this job is being away from the girls.
“I think the most important thing is that they know I love them and they love me.
“Although we keep in touch with Skype and by text and they come and visit during their school holidays, there’s no substitute for being with them day to day.”
The 41-year-old star has three children in total, Florence and Marnie from his marriage to Tamzin Outhwaite and another daughter Norah from a previous relationship.
Ellis and Outhwaite were married for seven years before divorcing in 2014.
He has since gone on to marry screenwriter Meaghan Oppenheimer in 2019.

Ellis still spends time with his daughters and revealed in an interview with Vulture in 2019 how he was with them when he found out Lucifer would be returning to Netflix with a fourth season.
When asked how he celebrated, he said: “Oh god, how did I?
“I was with my children in London at the time. They had an inkling of what Dad had been through.
“I had a normal day with them, actually. Did a little victory lap.”

Ellis will soon be back on screens in the fifth season of the series on Netflix as viewers see Lucifer as he deals with being sent to Hell.
As well as being about to return, Ellis has also reportedly signed a deal for a sixth as well.
This was reported by Deadline who revealed he had finalised a deal amid rumours Netflix wanted a sixth season of Lucifer as well.
This could all mean viewers will be able to see plenty more of the beloved character in the years to come.
Lucifer season 5 is expected to be released on Netflix soon.
