After Star Wars: The Last Jedi shook up the franchise, we’re unsure of where Episode IX will go, which is an exciting prospect. Will Kylo Ren be redeemed? How will the Resistance defeat the First Order? Will Force-sensitive kids all over the galaxy rise up?
Out of all of those question, one of the most pressing is: Will Luke Skywalker return? The Jedi Master kicked the bucket at the end of Episode VIIII, but there is always the potential of him coming back as a Force ghost, a la Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi and an inexplicably younger Anakin.
Mark Hamill has teased that possibility, sharing an image on Twitter of Luke about to become one with the Force, saying his final line: “See you around, kid,” with the caption “#Foreshadowing”…
Hamill has previously expressed that he “doesn’t care anymore” on a certain level, because Harrison Ford’s Han Solo is dead and Princess Leia actress Carrie Fisher sadly passed away in real life.
Having said that, he also said he would retire from his role as iconic Batman enemy The Joker following the game Batman: Arkham City, but returned for the sequel Arkham Knight and its VR spin-off, the divisive animated movie adaptation of The Killing Joke and Cartoon Network series Justice League Action, so don’t count him out of reprising Luke again just yet.
The iconic actor’s next role will be as… himself, in the season 11 finale of The Big Bang Theory, where he introduces his dog, Bark Hamill.
