Martin Lewis leaves Good Morning Britain for ‘long break’ in huge blow for ITV show

Good Morning Britain 's Martin Lewis is "taking a long break" from his slot on the show, but he's set to make a return later on this year.

The 50 year old money-saving expert is revered for his advice on how to make your money go further, and his Martin's Money Mondays slot on GMB was popular with the morning show's viewers as he grilled government ministers with the questions the public wanted to know.

According to The Sun, Martin is set to take some time away from the show to turn his attentions to the return of ITV's The Martin Lewis Money Show Live, which will be on-screen at 8pm Tuesday, October 18 on ITV.

OK! has contacted ITV representatives for comment.

Martin became a regular face on ITV after the sensational exit of Piers Morgan in 2021, who was lead co-anchor with Susana Reid.

Martin revealed his hiatus from GMB on Monday as he spoke to Work and Pensions Minister Victoria Prentis.

He said: "The final question is from me,"

"It's probably because my main evening television show is starting so I might not be on this programme for a while…

"I could do with your help please, because i'm very confused about what to tell people about the economy."

He asked: "Can you tell me at the moment should people be reining in their spending because that's what interest ratings are for or should they be spending more to help the economy and stave off recession?

"I'm confused and don't know which message to listen to. Can you tell me?"

Just yesterday, Martin revealed that he had had his OBE "taken off him," however, the reason was positive, as he's been upgraded to a CBE.

At the start of 2022, Martin, 50, was awarded a CBE for services to broadcasting and consumer rights in the Queen's New Year Honours.

Uploading a selfie with his MBE, Martin wrote: "They're taking my OBE off me! Yep, I got a letter saying now I have been upgraded to a CBE, I need to send the OBE back."

One fan commented: "Congratulations Martin, thoroughly deserved (even though it should be a knighthood!)," whilst another wrote: "Definitely worthy Sir Martin Lewis."

A third said: "Congratulations! The only person I trust to tell the truth in every day language," whilst a fourth wrote: "Congratulations Martin!!!! So well deserved!!!! You are fighting the corner for ordinary very hard working people!!!!!! You are their Angel!!!!!!! Xxxx"
