Naga Munchetty and Jon Kay bid emotional farewell to BBC Breakfast colleague as they quit show | The Sun

BBC Breakfast star Naga Munchetty and Jon Kay were among those bidding farewell to one of their colleagues who quit the show last week.

Naga, 47, said colleague Kate Varley, who had been a producer and journalist on the BBC show for almost five years, would be "greatly missed".

Kate last week shared a group photo of her with her colleagues sitting on the famous red sofa.

The photo showed a beaming Kate surrounded by presenters Naga, Charlie Stayt, 60, and Mike Bushell, 57.

Kate wrote: "Saying goodbye to this brilliant team this week. BBC Breakfast thanks for an incredible 4.5 years – I'll miss you!"

She added: "Looking forward to new challenges at Morning Ireland (and finally moving back to Ireland after more than a decade away eeeks)".

Teasing that they would be seeing each other the following day, Kate replied: "Thanks Naga. Feels very real now! See you in the morning (I'm bringing treats)".

Fellow presenter Jon Kay, 53, tweeted: "We'll miss you right back! You've been brilliant on Breakfast, Kate. Thank you – and all the best at RTE."

Whilst BBC weather presenter Matt Taylor commented: "Aw Kate – wish I'd been there to see you off. You've been a joy, even when you were chopping my time. Good luck!"
