Neighbours newcomer Majella Davis has been making a splash as Erinsborough’s Krista Sinclair – but it seems she almost had a different role in the show.
The actress turned up in Ramsay Street earlier this year after the long-running soap was saved from cancellation by Amazon Freevee. And fans have really taken to her fun and outgoing character Krista, who is the sister of Reece (Mischa Barton).
But Majella has since revealed that things could have been very different as she actually once went after two other parts in the Aussie show. Those didn’t work out and having later landed the role of Krista instead, she said it was obviously “meant to be”.

“Neighbours is my first official big gig, I am very excited to be here,” she said in a video clip posted on Neighbours’ Instagram. "I auditioned once upon a time for Nicolette Stone, and I also auditioned for Chloe once upon a time, and I guess Krista was meant to be."
Majella admitted to feeling a bit “overwhelmed” about being cast in Neighbours but said that it was “such a blessing” to get the part. “It kind of crept up on me by surprise,” she said.
The actress also told how she was thrilled to discover that she would be working with The OC legend Mischa. “On the sheet I saw Mischa Barton,” she said. “I was like, ‘That’s nice’ and then it says ‘Reece Sinclair’. I was like, ‘Sinclair? Huh?’
“And then I found out that she was my sister so that was very wild. She was so lovely, really welcoming. She was really excited to work with me and I was obviously really excited to work with her!”
Majella has gone down a storm with fans, with one admirer on Instagram calling her “a natural”. “Glad she is a part of the cast,” someone else agreed, as one viewer posted: “I love your character.”
Neighbours’ Nicolette was originally played by Charlotte Chimes, who had the part from 2020 until 2022. But then this year when the soap was revived, Hannah Monson took over the role. Charlotte later said in an Instagram Live that although soap bosses had invited her back, she had decided to move on.
April Rose Pengilly got the part of Chloe Brennan, who joined the soap in 2018.
