Neighbours is known for its steamy romance plots as well as its drama, and has seen plenty of love triangles and illicit affairs between the characters over the years.

So it is no surprise that plenty of the soap stars over the years have swapped their on-screen romance for something steamy off-camera.

Starting with Scott Robinson and Charlene Mitchell stars Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue's famous romance in the 80s to Chris Milligan and Jenna Rosenow announcing their engagement, plenty of Neighbours cast members have found love off-screen.

As UK audiences prepare for the return of the Aussie soap next month, Daily Star is taking a look at all of the couples who kept things close to home, from the happily married to the ones who didn't stand the test of time.

Stefan Dennis and Gail Easdale

Iconic Paul Robinson actor Stefan Dennis, who has been on the soap since it started in 1985 has been married to his wife Easdale since 2000.

They share three children, son Cameron, daughter Darci, and another son named Declan who also starred in Neighbours last year as Louis Curtain.

Whilst Paul is part of the furniture on the Aussie soap, his actress wife didn't make her appearance until 2016.

She played Paul's enemy Julie Quill from January 2016 until June the same year, as her character was sentenced to ten years in prison.

Stefan and Gail's romance started off years before they actually got together, as he was in a relationship with his co-star Gayle Blakeney, who played his second wife Christine, when he realised that he had developed feelings for Gail.

He told Herald Sun in 2015: "I told Gail that I was attracted to her, but nothing could happen because I was still in a relationship, so we became the best of friends instead.

"We were inseparable."

The pair stayed close friends for years, and it was soon after he split from Gayle that they ended up getting together for good.

Chris Milligan and Jenna Rosenow

Chris Milligan, who has played Kyle Canning on the soap since 2011, started dating Jenna Rosenow when she joined Neighbours in 2013.

She played Amber Turner in 2016, when the pair both left the soap to pursue a career in Hollywood.

Chris later returned to the soap in 2019, whilst Jenna is set to star in a Netflix drama with Katherine Heigl this year.

They confirmed their engagement in January 2021, sharing an adorable snap of themselves on the beach in Malibu, California, as Jenna showed off her ring.

The happy couple were soon inundated with messages of congratulations from their co-stars, including Takaya Honda, April Rose Pengilly and Benny Turland.

Chris spoke about the moment he met Amber in 2013 on Takaya's podcast, revealing that he fell for her the moment that he was introduced to her.

He said: "My best mate Jordan Smith who used to work on the show, he played Andrew Robinson, he walked into the green room one day and said 'The new girl is here, you're in trouble.

"I had no idea what he meant and then Jenna walked in and I was like…I think I'm in trouble here."

Travis Burns and Emma Lane

Travis Burns, who played Tyler Brennan until 2018, and his co-star Emma Lane, who appeared on the soap as regular Courtney Grixti, are happily married.

The pair tied the knot in a stunning ceremony in 2017, with plenty of the stars of Neighbours in attendance, including Lily Van Der Meer (Xanthe Canning), Matty Wilson (Aaron Brennan), Alan Fletcher (Karl Kennedy) and Mavournee Hazel (Piper Willis).

Whilst Travis finished off his storyline as Tyler, which saw the character be sent to prison, the pair had to go through a long-distance relationship whilst she was based in the US.

Travis and Courtney have been together since 2013, and have since moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting after their characters dated on the soap in 2017.

Courtney's character also dated Josh Willis, played by Harley Bonner.

Harley Bonner and Ariel Kaplan

The star, who is the real life son of Neighbours legend Carla Bonner, may have had an on-screen romance with Emma, but he started his on-screen twin Ariel Kaplan, aka Imogen, in real life.

Harley and Ariel began dating while they were on the soap together in 2013, sharing plenty of loved up snaps with their fans.

Ariel said when they went public with their romance: "I love him more every day. It’s all really good.

"I am very regimented and organised and Harley is pretty much the most laid-back person in the world.

"I made him a little bit more on time and he relaxed me.I love him more every day. It’s all really good.

"I am very regimented and organised and Harley is pretty much the most laid-back person in the world.

"I made him a little bit more on time and he relaxed me."

However, the pair announced in 2016 that they had split after three years together, with Ariel saying that they had ended their relationship amicably and "still talked everyday".

Both of them have since moved on, with Harley has been dating fashion model Natalia Roser since early 2017 and Ariel Kaplan is dating Dean Cooper.

Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue

The famous couple to come out of Neighbours is Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue, whose on-screen wedding as Scott Robinson and Charlene Mitchell was the most watched Neighbours episode ever, watched by nearly 20 million people.

Kylie and Jason started dating in 1986, and even released Especially For You Together, but split after three years when she left him for INXS frontman Michael Hutchence, who died in 1997.

Jason was left devastated by the split, telling the Mirror in 2016: "It was an extremely painful parting of the ways and, without a doubt, I took a long time to recover from it. Years, definitely."

He added: "It was bad enough that she'd run off with anybody but she happened to run into the arms of the greatest rock god of the period, the very guy who I secretly wanted to be.

"That was a pretty big punch to take."

Jason went on to marry Angela Malloch, with whom he shares children Jemma, Zac and Molly.

Kylie went through a string of tumultuous relationships with model James Gooding, Olivier Martinez and Spanish model Andres Velencoso and GQ boss Paul Solomons.
