Netflix recently dropped their latest documentary series, The Family – and it is fair to say, people are being left shook to the core.
The five-episode series, based on a series of investigative novels by Jeff Sharlet, documents a highly-conservative Christian group, who go by the name of ‘The Family’, and their influence on American politics over the years. The show also makes reference to political figures such as the Obamas, and current US president Donald Trump.
The series, which stars James Cromwell, David Rysdahl and Ben Rosenfield, seems to suggest that ‘The Family’ consists of many leading world figures in both politics and religion, and this has left viewers shocked and stunned.
And those who watched had plenty to say on Twitter.
‘The Family on Netflix. Must watch,’ one fan said. ‘All these organisations and corruption and people wonder why and how Trump is in power.’
‘Yo, The Family on Netflix has me top tier f****d up,’ another added.
While one other Twitter user questioned: ‘Why aren’t more people talking about #TheFamily on Netflix?! This s*** is the explanation for all the corruption in the world.’
Meanwhile, one viewer claims that the docuseries is so compelling, that it left them unable to get to sleep.
‘Decided to try and watch The Family on Netflix until I fall asleep. A few minutes in and I am already too horrified to sleep. What a bunch of nut jobs,’ he said.
Another agreed, as they replied: ‘Watched last night and was in a ‘horror film can’t sleep ever again’ place by the end.’
It certainly sounds as if it is gripping viewing, that will give an inside look into the behind-the-scenes of American politics, and the corruption that goes on.
The Family is available for streaming on Netflix.
