New series of Who Do You Think You Are? will have a Strictly flavour

The new series of Who Do You Think You Are? has a Strictly Come Dancing thing going on.

Bosses have signed up head judge Shirley Ballas plus ex-contestants Robert Rinder and Jonnie Peacock .

The trio will appear in the 15th run of the genealogy series, along with comic Lee Mack and former JLS star Marvin Humes.

While Paralympian Jonnie has yet to film his episode, TV’s Judge Rinder makes heart-rending discoveries about his grandfather Morris, a survivor of the Holocaust.

Robert travels to Piotrkow in Poland where he learns that Morris’s parents and five siblings were all killed in a concentration camp.

Thinking of how Morris must have felt being the only one to make it out alive, an emotional Robert says: “You go back to your house and you’re alone. It’s impossible to fathom for my grandfather what that must have been like to come back to nothing.”

He also visits the Schlieben camp in Germany where Morris worked producing missiles for the Nazi military.

Meeting Ben, his grandfather’s friend from those days, Robert hears just how horrific their time in the camp was.

On a lighter note, Lee Mack finds out his great-grandad performed on the front line during the First World War, so comedy is in his genes.

Shirley’s journey takes her from the Liverpool tower block where she grew up to South Africa.

Other stars already announced for the BBC1 show are actress Olivia Colman, who travels to India, pop star Boy George, who seeks out his Irish ancestry and former Corrie actress Michelle Keegan , who finds a special connection to suffragette leader Emmeline Pankhurst.

The quests of the eight celebrities also take them to Italy, Jamaica, Gibraltar and Latvia.
