The original “Halloween” movie is returning to the big screen to terrify audiences once again.
The 1978 horror flick is set for another theatrical run starting Sept. 27, Variety reports. Select theaters in around the world will screen the John Carpenter film starring Jamie Lee Curtis leading up to the release of its latest sequel — also called “Halloween” and starring Curtis. The event comes in time for its 40th anniversary.
Horror fans can look forward not to just seeing the classic film in theaters but also to a restored and digitally remastered version of it. Carpenter said he was “thrilled” to have his horror flick playing in theaters leading up to the release of another installment in the series.
“Having both back in theaters this fall is remarkable,” he said in a statement.
The original film and the upcoming one each center on a violent killer named Michael Myers (Nick Castle). Furthermore, he faces off in both with Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis). The character was a teen in the 1978 film, but now she’ll be a grandmother.
It’s going to be an extra-scary Halloween this year.
