Oti Mabuse’s return to The Masked Dancer dubbed ‘no brainer’ by ITV bosses

Masked Dancer bosses say it is “a no brainer” to sign Oti Mabuse for the ITV show again this year.

She will join Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan and Jonathan Ross from The Masked Singer for the spin-off. But it means pop star Rita Ora gets the boot once more.

Bosses want Strictly pro Oti on the dance edition as she is an expert and can spot things the others cannot.

Bandicoot TV chief Derek McLean said: “Yes, Oti will be back. She is great. She has that level of dance skill and her critical eye is so good for dance. It is a no-brainer that she is coming back.

“It is interesting that last year she was watching Knickerbocker Glory for weeks and not knowing who it was – and then the one time just as he walked off stage and he was no longer concentrating on hiding himself she realised it was Craig Revel Horwood from the way he walked.

“She recognised his gait and the way he walked. She has an unbelievable eye and she is very competitive, so she’s very good.

Asked last month about whether she is leaving after seven years and two glitterball wins, Oti teased: “We have to wait and see. There will be an announcement made."

This will be Oti’s third confirmed job with ITV in 2022.

The 31-year-old only recently joined the Dancing on Ice judging panel after taking over from John Barrowman.

And later this year she will host a new musical dating show called Romeo & Duet.

But fans are speculating that she will be too busy to sign up for the BBC’s Strictly this autumn.

Celebrity PR and publicist Harry Rutter told Metro Online: "Moves like this don’t often happen, but it’s more than likely that a very tempting offer was put on the table by ITV bosses."

The two-time Strictly winner and dancing champion has forged a successful TV career as a judge on The Masked Dancer and more recently Dancing on Ice.
