Outlander fans were treated to a new interview with stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe where the pair spoke about the upcoming season. During the conversation, Heughan opened up about what he was looking forward to in season six.

What is Sam Heughan most looking forward to in Outlander season 6?

The sixth season of Outlander is currently on hiatus after filming was not able to begin as planned.

This was because COVID-19 restrictions meant production was unable to start.

However, to keep fans entertained during the droughtlander, Starz has been releasing a new weekly show.

Called the End of Summer Series, the online fundraiser for charitable causes like Doctors Without Borders has featured stars of the show.

The final episode featured Jamie Fraser star Heughan and his Claire Fraser co-star, Balfe.

The pair spoke a bit about lockdown and what they’ve been up to during the show’s hiatus.

They then answered some questions, giving viewers an insight into what might happen in season six.

Balfe asked her co-star what scene she was most looking forward to in season six.

Heughan replied: “I’ve started book six I really have and I’m about halfway through and I haven’t got to the end yet.

“It’s so interesting to see what the writers have done and where we’re going.

“I don’t know where we end up. Where we leave season five, the whole family is fractured.

“They are together but they are fractured and I think Claire still has some healing to do as well right?”

Balfe also opened up in the chat about how she is looking forward to exploring this in the new series.

She added: “Yes for sure, I think one of the things I’m looking forward to is seeing how she copes with all of that and the repercussions of it.

“And how the family as a whole unit heal together or help her to heal and I think that’s going to be a really lovely part of the story.”

The sixth season of the show is going to be based on Diana Gabaldon’s sixth book A Breath of Snow and Ashes.

This will pick up from the end of the previous novel The Fiery Cross as the American Revolution edges closer.

The book concluded with the political unrest growing among the colonies in North Carolina.

Speaking about the new series earlier this year, showrunner Ronald D Moore teased the new outing.

He said: “People who saw this fifth season will know we already started to pull from book six and other books in the series.

“We’ve always been free to play around with some of the chronology, particularly to borrow things from different books.

“So we’re not perfectly a book a season – and we’ll continue that going forward.

“The large that’s still defining where we are is we’re in the new world, we’re in the American colonies and the American Revolution is getting closer.

“So that’s a big thing that’s going to be moving front and centre the further that we get into season six.”

Outlander seasons 1 to 5 are available to stream on Amazon’s Prime Video now.
