Disney Plus’ latest addition Pam and Tommy is expected to become a huge hit after its trailer took social media by storm. Actress Lily James who will portray Pamela Anderson made a huge confession about her initial reservations and shared why she wanted to quit the show.

The highly anticipated series starring Lily James as Pamela Anderson and Sebastian Stan as Tommy Lee has already been met with a ton of controversy.

The show will give fans an insight into Pamela and Tommy’s relationship as well as the aftermath of their sex tape being leaked.

While it was devastating for the couple, it was a huge pop-cultural moment of the 1990s and it became the first celebrity sex tape to be leaked on the internet.

Although fans are eagerly awaiting the release of Pam and Tommy, James opened up about the initial reservations she had.

James is well known for her role in Downtown Abbey and the Mama Mia sequel, so fans were taken aback by her complete transformation to resemble Pamela Anderson.

Although fans were in awe and appreciated the hard work taken for the actress to become virtually indistinguishable from the Baywatch star, James had considered stepping down from the role.

Speaking to Variety, James reflected on the preparation and confessed: “I really wanted to pull out of this a week before,” and felt as though: “I can’t do it. I can’t do it.”

The 32-year-old added: “It just felt too frightening. But I think that’s a good place to work from because it keeps you growing and getting better, I hope.”

In order to perfect her role as Anderson, James explained she would watch old interviews: “over and over again,” and highlighted the fast pace at which the model would speak.

She disclosed: “I wanted to get that energy and that impulsiveness and that spirit that she has when she’s in front of the camera.”

It was also revealed Stan was just as meticulous during his preparation to portray the iconic Mötley Crüe drummer.

As well as watching numerous interviews, he also read his autobiography, ‘Tommyland,’ and the band tell-all ‘The Dirt: Confessions of the World’s Most Notorious Rock Band.’

Most rigorous of all, Stan showed his dedication to the role by learning how to play the drums and in true Tommy style – his signature drumstick twirl.

“It’s not easy to do,” Stan stated on mastering the skill, “My fingers were swollen for a good week and a half, I kept hitting myself in the head with it.”

Ahead of the exciting release of the eight-part series, James revealed she had reached out to Anderson, after being publicly bashed by the model’s friend.

In an interview with Porter, she claimed: “This is the first interview I’ve done about this project, and I care a lot about it.

“I was really hopeful that she would be involved, I wish it had been different.

She added: “My sole intention was to take care of the story and to play Pamela authentically.”

This came after a close friend of Anderson told The Sun: “Pamela has no intention of watching this God awful show, absolutely not. Never.

“She’s never heard of the actors playing her or Tommy, and doesn’t care to know them.”

Despite not having the blessing of Anderson and Lee, the series is expected to become a huge hit once it premieres next month.
Pam & Tommy premieres on Disney Plus on February 2, 2022.
