National Television Awards pay tribute to Paul O’Grady
A sweet tribute to the late Paul O’Grady during the National Television Awards left viewers in tears on Tuesday night.
Earlier this year, it was announced that the comedian had died at the age of 61-years-old.
A statement revealed the ITV star had died unexpectedly but peacefully at his home on March 28.
During the NTAs, host Joel Dommett took a moment to celebrate the star’s life.
He said: “Now, before we go on, here at the National Television Awards we wanted to remember someone very special.
“The one and only, Paul O’Grady.”

As the audience erupted into applause, the host continued to praise the late star.
He added: “nominated an astonishing 28 times for an NTA, his first nearly 30 years ago.
“His career came in many guises, but no matter what he did there was always kindness, coupled with a unique sense of fun that won over audiences in an instant.
“Here’s a reminder of why we all love him so, so much.”
