Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday, September 8, the Royal Family have witnessed a major shift as King Charles III takes over the role of monarch as well as adhered to a long list of royal protocols – all in a time of mourning. On Sunday, it was Princess Anne who tended to her royal duties and accompanied her mother’s coffin from Balmoral to Holyrood House in Edinburgh before it’s scheduled to be moved to Westminster Abbey for Her Late Majesty’s funeral on Monday, September 19.

Princess Anne stayed composed throughout the six-hour-long journey and was even spotted curtsying her late mother’s coffin as it was taken into the throne room at Holyrood.

As the Queen’s only daughter, Princess Anne experienced a special relationship with the late monarch unlike that of her brothers.

Discussing her conduct and demeanour in an undoubtedly tough time for the royal, Dan Wootton was joined by Lady Colin Campbell on GB News on Sunday evening.

He put to Lady C: “What did you make, Lady C, about the role of Princess Anne today?”

Lady C was quick to laud the Royal Family member, replying: “She’s an absolute brick! Her father adored her.”

The GB News guest then went on to compare Anne’s resilience to that of her late father: “I’ve always said it, Princess Anne is Prince Philip in skirts!

“Her father adored her and her mother adored her, it wasn’t just her father who adored her. She’s a very true, ordinary, down-to-earth, dedicated, no-nonsense, hard-working woman who puts her duty above all else.

“She’s the most hard-working member of the Royal Family. It doesn’t matter what her position is in the line of succession, she is the Queen’s only daughter, she was the number two child and she has lived up to being Princess Royal in a way which is absolutely commendable.

“You can’t fault her ever. And she’s totally on glamorous with it but she’s no-nonsense and people relate to her in a way that they would not necessarily relate to her if she were more glamorous.”

And Lady C wasn’t the only one full of praise for Princess Anne during Sunday’s broadcast on GB News

Royal columnist Sarah Vine echoed Lady C’s praise: “I think Anne is an amazing example of everything that is good about the monarchy, she’s all the good parts about tradition, you know.

“She’s elegant, she’s intelligent, she’s low-key but she puts in the work as you said earlier, she really puts in the hard graft and I think a lot of people respect her for that and love her for that.”

Sarah couldn’t resist a swipe at Meghan Markle as she added: “She’s sort of the opposite of the Duchess of Sussex really.

“And I think having her there… she’s quite a calming influence as well, you sort of feel like you’re in good hands if Anne is there.

“She’s reliable, in the same way that the Queen was. The Queen always put everyone at their ease and I think Anne had that quality as well.”
