The creator of Netflix hit The Crown has said that the series is responsible for the recent surge in popularity surrounding Anne, Princess Royal.
Peter Morgan has praised Erin Doherty's portrayal of Princess Anne in the third series of international hit drama.
Princess Anne, 70, is the only daughter of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, Peter claimed that Princess Anne was once "overlooked".
"So many people asked me, after she first appeared, to put more of her in there," he said.
Peter, 57, went on to say: "Anne's often overlooked. But Erin's portrayal means that everybody has fallen in love with her.
"Searches about her on Google went through the roof, she's now one of the most popular royals."
However, fans of the Royal Family may put Princess Anne's popularity down to her work ethic, which has seen her named the hardest-working member of the Mountbatten-Windsor family year on year.
Princess Anne beams as she marks her 70th birthday with three new pictures
The 14th in line to the throne, who is no stranger to disliking publicity, recently took centre stage in a documentary focusing on her 70th birthday.
Anne: The Princess Royal at 70 saw ITV camera crews following Zara Tindall's mum as she prepared for her celebrations and during a lockdown.
Speaking about The Crown, Anne said: "I read an article the other day about The Crown, the actress was talking about how long it took them to do their hair like I did."
Famed for her witty sense of humour and one-liners, she went on to say: "And I'm thinking, 'How could you possibly take that long?' I mean it takes me ten or 15 minutes."
Erin Doherty, 28, will reprise her role as Princess Anne in the forthcoming fourth series of The Crown, which will see Geoffrey Breton take on the role of Captain Mark Phillips, Anne's first husband.
It was announced earlier last week that Game of Thrones actor Jonathan Pryce would take on the role of Prince Philip in series four and five.
Imelda Staunton is set to take over from Olivia Colman as the Queen, while Lesley Manville will play Princess Margaret in series four and five.
Bosses have also confirmed that Elizabeth Debicki will step into the shoes of Diana, Princess of Wales in the final two series of The Crown.
