This article contains spoilers for the latest episode of Riverdale, ‘Chapter Thirty-Four: Judgment Night’.
Don’t you just love Riverdale, that family-friendly, safe and twee TV series based on those lovely Archie comic books that are full of clean-cut characters who are unflinchingly polite and helpful and nice to each other?
Oh wait, no. Riverdale is bloody damn brutal. This season has been building up to an all-out gang war between the Ghoulies and the Serpents, and to try to avoid this, Jughead gives himself up to Hiram.
The episode ends with Betty turning up in the woods to see FP walking out with Jughead’s bruised and bloodied body, leading fans to fear the worst:
However, some viewers took a look at their episode guides and noticed a potential spoiler in the synopsis…
That obviously doesn’t mean our hero is out of the woods yet (pun!) – he could still die from his injuries next week. After all, someone is going to.
Elsewhere in the episode, we had the revelation that the Black Hood was none other than Betty’s father, Hal. He tells her that a darkness runs in his family, and Betty has it too. Maybe just don’t procreate? It’s a thought.
Hal also revealed that Joseph the janitor had pretended to be the Black Hood before, but who is running around under the moniker now?
Riverdale airs on The CW in the US and Netflix in the UK, with season one also currently showing on 5STAR.
