'RuPaul's Drag Race': Some of Symone's Looks Were Made By This 'Drag Race' Queen's Mom

Los Angeles-based drag queen Symone has made her mark on RuPaul’s Drag Race. From her showstopping looks to her standout performances, the Arkansas-born beauty has defied expectations at seemingly every turn.

Symone is a breakout star of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Season 13

When Symone arrived on the main stage of RuPaul’s Drag Race, she was a flower who was getting ready to blossom. Over the course of the season, she proved that she’s much more than just a pretty face; she can deliver a great acting performance and is a talented personal brander.

Many of her runway outfits have become instant iconic Drag Race looks. From her powerful Black Lives Matter-themed fascinator look to her durag train look, Symone has impressed the judges and audiences everywhere and left her mark on the main stage.

Symone is in the House of Avalon with Gigi Goode

Symone’s time on Season 13 comes one year after the outstanding performance by another young Los Angeles queen, Gigi Goode. Both Symone and Goode won four challenges on their seasons and made it to the very end. They’re both also part of the House of Avalon creative collective.

Symone spoke about her love for the House of Avalon on RuPaul’s Drag Race. It originally consisted of her LGBTQ friends in Arkansas, and they eventually all picked up and moved to Los Angeles together.

Gigi Goode has made many of Symone’s wigs that she wore on the show, and has also had another part in bringing her fantasies to life on the runway.

Gigi Goode’s mom made some of Symone’s looks

On season 12 of Drag Race, Goode spoke about the close relationship she has with her mother, Kristi Geggie. She fostered Goode’s creative spirit as a child and let her express herself in whatever ways she wanted. As a seamstress herself, Geggie helped make many of Goode’s looks that stunned the judges in season 12.

It turns out that Geggie has also had a hand in Symone’s outstanding runway looks this season. Every week, Symone has given credit to those who helped her looks come together, from the hair (often done by Goode) to the outfit.

Two gorgeous gowns Symone wore this season were constructed by Geggie: her gold fantasy from the roast episode and her final four gown with floor-length sleeves.

“A pleasure and a privilege to make a dress fit for a queen!” Geggie said in an Instagram post of the final four look. “Proud to be Team Symone.”

Symone responded with nothing but gratitude: “You turned this OUT!! Thank you so much for helping make this vision come true!”
