BBC Breakfast star Sally Nugent claimed her co-star was being "very harsh" after some comments he made about Great Britain's performance in The Billy Jean King Cup.
The 51-year-old returned to her usual spot on the red sofa after being replaced by Nina Warhurst yesterday, but her regular co-host Jon Kay remained absent for the third day running.
Standing in for Jon once again was Ben Thompson who sat alongside Sally as they presented the top headlines on Wednesday (November 9).

The pair welcomed sports correspondent John Watson into the studio who gave a roundup of the major sport stories, including the women's tennis competition which kicked off yesterday in Glasgow.
But Ben revealed to the duo that Great Britain hadn't got off to a great start as they were already facing elimination following a 2-1 defeat to Kazakhstan.
He added: "Britain did win their doubles but if Kazakstan beat Spain today, Britain will be eliminated before they even play Spain on Thursday."
"It's not the best start," chimed Ben as John interjected: "No it's not is it! It's not."
Venting his frustration over the result, he said: "And it's so frustrating that you could potentially already be out before you even play your second match to right the frustrations of what went wrong before."
"But you know, that's the draw," he clarified before a quiet Sally agreed: "That's the draw."
The news anchor let out a slight giggle as she told him: "That's very harsh for a Wednesday morning I think John!"
The sports presenter defended his words, telling the pair: "Well that's sport right?," before pulling an awkward smile.
"Brutal reality!." added Sally before she turned to weatherwomen Carol Kirkwood to help lift the mood.
The presenter wasn't the only face missing from the studio yesterday as Carol, 60, was replaced by Sarah Keith-Lucas to take viewers through the day's weather.
