Seann Walsh's ex Rebecca Humphries says his Strictly snog with Katya Jones 'shattered' her as she reveals how she recovered from his betrayal

Thanking friends and members of the public for their kindness, she said: "It has gifted me the tools to sweep up the shattered bits and rebuild myself – but better."

The actress and writer was writing in an article for Vogue magazine where she described people's response to her nightmare as an "electric storm of kindness".

She added that the scandal had given her a "strength and resoluteness I had forgotten I possessed".

Rebecca goes on: "Perhaps the biggest shock (no mean feat), has been of the thousands of people who recognised the Wonder Woman behind that statement was at the same time standing in the ruins of a shattered reality – and their rush to offer humour, perspective and life-force to help rebuild it.

She adds that she was bombarded with personalised gifts, many including the now-famous sign-off to her statement about the affair: "I'm not sorry I took the cat."

And she thanked the friend who commanded: "'Alexa: play I’m Every Woman by Chaka Khan,' thrusting a shiraz into my shaking hands and spinning me about."

Rebecca and Seann dated for five years and lived together in west London until pictures of him kissing Strictly partner Katya emerged in The Sun on Sunday.

She later unfollowed Seann on Instagram, liked a series of supportive tweets from fans and blasted him in a blistering statement on Twitter, accusing him of being "controlling".

Rebecca also said that when she suspected something "inappropriate" was going on, Seann "aggressively and repeatedly" called her "a psycho/nuts/mental".

She also writes that she was contacted by "a woman who passed on an email sent by her husband after hearing my letter on television, in which he acknowledged for the first time how he had treated her six years ago and vowed to seek help".

Katya, 29, who is married to fellow dancer Neil Jones, was the first to hold her hands up over the kiss, telling fans on Twitter: “I’m so sorry about any offence or hurt I have caused with my actions.

“I wasn’t thinking and it was a one-off mistake after some drinks.

“I love my husband and we are very happy together, this is not a reflection on our relationship.”

Seann, 32, followed suit and added: “In light of the story in today's newspaper I would like to offer my sincere apologies for my actions.

"This is no excuse but it was a one-off drunken mistake which I am truly sorry for.”
