After discovering the pact between DCI Keeble (Alison Newman) and Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) on EastEnders, Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) is a woman on a mission to gain control of Peggy’s from Phil.
When Shirley secretly followed Phil in a recent episode she was able to get incriminating evidence, including photos, to show that Phil has been working with the police – in other words, breaking the Mitchell code and committing the number one crime of being a grass.
Following threats from Shirley that she would expose this, and with Billy (Perry Fenwick) facing prison after Phil had to sacrifice him to Keeble, Phil knew that he was running out of time.
He decided his only option was to flee the Square and try to find a way out of the mess that Keeble had caused for him and his family.
In coming episodes, Keeble continues to apply pressure by calling in on Kat (Jessie Wallace) unannounced, looking for Phil. Kat warns Shirley that it’s vital that she has to stay quiet about Phil’s whereabouts and what she knows.
Shirley agrees, but she warns Kat that Phil is not to be trusted. Will Shirley keep her word? Or is she going to go after Phil herself?
