The reality TV star has died aged 32 after she found fame on the same show two years ago.
In the days before she died Sophie shared a sweet post about fellow Geordie Ellie, 21, and revealed that the women were pals.
She appeared thrilled that her mate won a spot in the Majorca villa and sent her off with a smile and applause.
Alongside the emojis, Sophie captioned Ellie's Love Island press shot: "….. my mate Elle is landing in #loveisland no biggie"
A fan commented on the post and asked if Ellie knew fellow Geordie Adam Collard, who was already in the villa.
When they asked if Ellie was Adam's ex, Sophie replied: "She’s not Adam's ex. But…. it’s a small town."
Ellie is yet to be told that Sophie has passed away and it's not known if show bosses will break the news to her on the inside.
They have shared a heartfelt statement on Twitter.
They said: "The whole ITV2 and Love Island team are profoundly saddened to hear the news about Sophie, and our deepest sympathies and thoughts go to her family and friends."
Both women hailed from Ponteland in Newcastle where the former Miss Newcastle and Miss Great Britain was found dead at her home on Wednesday.
The news was first announced by Sophie's boyfriend Aaron Armstrong, who she was planning to marry.
However, the circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear, however he paid tribute to Sophie alongside a picture of them smiling together on their recent holiday in the South of France.
He wrote on Facebook today: "I will never forget that smile.
"I love you so so much baby your [sic] my world forever ever and always."
Sophie, who claimed she had "sold her soul to reality TV", spoke of battling crippling anxiety before her death and made fans aware of her battle with depression.
