Spoilers: Abi in Corrie assaults police officer Craig in violent showdown

It’s safe to say Abi Franklin (Sally Carman) in Coronation Street thoroughly enjoyed bringing the residents together during the anniversary week to stop Ray Crosby (Mark Frost) and his redevelopment plans.

Since then, Ray has continued to plot against the residents, but Abi is always there up against him, trying to stop him in his tracks.

Soon though, with a victory on the way for Ray, there could be another one in store when Abi assaults Craig (Colson Smith) in a violent showdown.

Ray and Debbie (Sue Devaney) congratulate each other after discovering their development can go ahead after all. The residents are then horrified to find letters stuck to their front doors informing them they have two weeks to vacate their properties before the demolition boys move in.

Abi’s determined to take action and arrives on a float, using a loudhailer to spread the word about evil Ray.

As she yells defamatory statements about him, Craig is sent to disperse the protest but, in the ensuing commotion, belligerent Abi throws the loudhailer, hitting him in the face.

With Abi getting pretty desperate to stop Ray, will this assault be the thing that stops her and allows Ray to finally put his plan into place and destroy the cobbles after all?
