Spoilers: Abi vows to fight and gain full custody of baby Alfie in Corrie

Abi Franklin (Sally Carman) made a step in the right direction in Coronation Street tonight as she vowed to fight and gain full custody of her baby son.

Following the birth, Abi spiralled out of control, using drugs and alcohol to cope with the traumatic birth – and the fact she still hasn’t told Imran (Charlie de Melo) he has a baby son.

Tonight, with Toyah’s (Georgia Taylor) help, Abi was back at the hospital after learning her baby needs a bowel operation.

The operation was a success, but Abi couldn’t help but wonder if her drinking and drug taking caused her son’s condition to deteriorate.

There was progress for Abi as she decided to see her son, who’s still in NICU and being heavily monitored because he is so small.

Ultimately, spending time with her son and touching him helped Abi turn a corner as she told Aggie (Lorna Laidlaw) she is ready to fight and prove to social services she can be a good mum.

Abi also revealed her baby boy’s name – Alfie, after Seb’s favourite teddy bear.

So, a battle begins for Abi – but can she win it?

And what about Imran? How long will it be until he discovers he has a son?
