Faith Dingle (Sally Dexter) still hasn’t rebuilt her relationship with Cain (Jeff Hordley) in Emmerdale.

Sometimes, Cain grows tired of his mum’s clumsy ways but ultimately, one thing that still remains at the forefront of his mind is the massive secret his mum kept from him for years.

When Faith discovered Cara – Nate’s mum – was pregnant, she chose to keep it a secret from the whole family, fearful racist and alcoholic Shadrach would do something terrible if he learnt a mixed-race baby would soon be born into the Dingles.

This was revealed a few years ago, around the time Cain discovered Nate – who had an affair with Moira – was actually his son.

Cain hasn’t been able to forgive his mum ever since and soon, he will face further problems along with sister Chas (Lucy Pargeter).

With a special week airing at the start of May, viewers will discover something is troubling Faith and as Laura Shaw explains, it will change Cain, Chas and Faith forever.

‘Faith has a huge, big and shocking secret’, she says.

‘That’s revealed to Moira, and she becomes the one who discovers it first, there are some touching scenes between those two coming up.’

Looking ahead, Laura added:

‘Cain and Chas is our most loved sibling pairing. They have a lot going on as Faith’s secret from the big week will impact them. We’re about to start shooting a special episode that made me cry.

‘It explores more of their rich history and how their upbringing hugely affects the decisions they make in the present. Beyond this we will certainly see that not all the decisions are good ones.’
