Since being diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour, EastEnders’ Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) has resolved to try to enjoy every second of the time she has left and to live as normal a life as possible, not least for the sake of her daughter Lexi (Isabella Brown).

Understandably her loved ones want to protect her and keep her safe as much as they possibly can, meaning that sometimes they worry that she’s taking on too much. Jay (Jamie Borthwick) in particular has struggled with the idea of losing the girlfriend he loves, but he’s determined to be strong for her and has put all of his energy into making her life as comfortable as possible.

In upcoming episodes Billy (Perry Fenwick) and Jay are again concerned about Lola going back to work. For her part, Lola just wishes they would leave her to enjoy her life in her own way while she still can.

A discussion about this leads Jay to have an idea, which he shares with Lola.

She invites the family for a meal and Billy, Ben (Max Bowden) and Callum (Tony Clay) are tense, wondering whether they’re about to hear bad news about Lola’s medical prognosis.

Then a happy Jay and Lola surprise everyone by making an announcement.

Will everyone be as happy with the plan as they are?
