Spoilers: Make or break for Callum and Ben in EastEnders but will they split?

Ever since the homophobic attack on Callum (Tony Clay) and Ash (Gurlaine Kaur Garcha) at New Year in EastEnders, Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) has been struggling.

Seeing the man he loves being kicked and punched and not being able to do anything to help has sent Ben into a spiral of fear and depression.

Flashbacks to when his boyfriend Paul Coker was killed in a homophobic attack have even led Ben to say he doesn’t feel safe openly living his life as a gay man. He’s afraid that every time he or Callum steps out of the house they could be targets of violent hatred.

The strain on their marriage caused by this trauma leads the pair to the verge of splitting up in upcoming episodes, as Ben admits to Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) that he’s pushing Callum away so they don’t become targets.

Kathy tries to explain Ben’s point of view to Callum, who decides to make one last effort. He tells Ben he’s organising a party outside the Prince Albert and asks him to meet him there in an hour if he thinks their marriage has a future.

As Callum anxiously waits for his husband to appear, will Ben turn up? Or is their marriage over?
