It may only be February, but EastEnders is planning far in advance when it comes to storylines, with one possible Christmas story already on the cards.
It feels like Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) and Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) have been waiting to tie the knot forever, but fans of the couple will have a while to wait before either of them walk down the aisle, as Kat and Phil make the decision to postpone their wedding until Christmas Day.
With everything that’s happened to them recently, it’s no wonder that they want some time to let the dust settle.
Phil has only just managed to get rid of DCI Keeble, after months of torment from the bent copper.
Things finally came to a head when, in a moment of madness, Keeble kidnapped Kat and Tommy (Sonny Kendall), in an attempt to blackmail Phil into handing over the evidence he had against her.
During a tussle with Kat, Keeble ended up being shot, and finally called an end to her vendetta against the Mitchells.
Since then, Kat has been involved in drama with the Slaters, following the discovery that 12-year-old Lily (Lillia Turner) is expecting a baby.
With everything that goes on on Albert Square, there is unlikely to be a perfect time to get married, and, knowing what we know about EastEnders, Christmas Day certainly isn’t it.
But hey, at least we know to expect some drama over the festive period. Maybe even more than usual…
