Escape to the Chateau follows Dick Strawbridge and Angel Adoree’s journey of bringing back to former glory an old chateau in the north of France. The home they have created is beautiful and would make for an ideal holiday destination. But can fans actually stay in the chateau?
Can you stay inside Dick and Angel’s home?
For seven seasons now, fans have been wondering if Dick Strawbridge and Angel Adoree’s chateau can be visited or even stayed in.
The pair have created an idyllic home, one that would make a perfect holiday destination for anyone seeking to spend some time in the north of France.
The Château de la Motte-Husson is located in the commune of Martigné-sur-Mayenne, which is in the Pays de la Loire region of north-west France.
The home now rivals many of the manor houses viewers can visit in the UK, as it dates back to the 19th century and is vast in size and scope.
The home has a staggering 45 rooms, 12 acres of land, and a moat, all freshly restored and maintained by its two owners.
For fans hoping to spend a night there, there are a couple of ways to do it.
The building is open as a wedding destination and has proved to be immensely popular as a result of the show.
The programme has even featured some of the guests that have stayed over, as weddings are booked well in advance and they aren’t slowing down.
For anyone seeking to tie the knot, the privilege of spending a day at the chateau will cost around £6,000.
According to the website, they are currently on a two-year catch-up for bookings, so for anyone looking at going, the earliest would be 2023.
However, there is another way for fans to take a trip to the chateau, with several events listed on the website.
Most of these are day activities, however, with one offering a chance to stay at the chateau – technically.
Chateau Under the Stars is listed as one of the events, with the description: “Elegant camping just got interesting here at The Chateau with our brand new geodesic Domes to watch the stars twinkle, in total luxury.”
While this wouldn’t be in the chateau itself, this glamping experience offers a more affordable opportunity to visit the estate and spend the night there.
The remaining events are all-day trips but give fans some great opportunities to visit the renowned French home.
The first is a guided tour by Dick and Angel themselves, with bookings already open for 2022.
Another option is listed as “Fun and Festivities”, with a description reading: “This is a day of decadence and an opportunity to come and visit us at The Chateau.
“There will be an abundance of food and drink and we will be on hand all day to answer any questions.”
The final option is a chance for viewers to make their own contribution to the chateau by working in the garden.
“Working Garden Day” has a tongue-in-cheek description, reading: “Yes to be frankly honest we are charging you to come and work! These ‘Work’ days are an opportunity to come and visit us at the Chateau.”
Due to an ongoing backlog, all these activities must be booked at the earliest, months in advance.
They all give fans a wide range of opportunities to visit the chateau for themselves, but for those looking to stay the night, a wedding will have to be on the cards.
Escape to the Chateau is available to watch on Channel 4 and All 4.
