Steph’s Packed Lunch: Steph McGovern isolating says Helen Skelton
Steph, 38, has been absent from her Channel 4 talk show for over a week now as the mother-of-one was forced to self-isolate in line with government guidelines to combat the spread of coronavirus. Although she tested negative for the COVID-19, the presenter stuck to the rules and will be making her grand return to Steph’s Packed Lunch from Monday. However, filling in for her for the last episode of this week will be reigning Strictly Come Dancing champion Bill, 56, who has secured his first television role since winning the BBC dance show.
Last month, the comedian gave professional dancer Oti Mabuse, 30, her second consecutive win and he made history by becoming the oldest male celebrity to win the competition.
Since then, Bill has been enjoying some relaxation from practising routines but he will be taking over from Richard Madeley, 64, on Friday as he has also been helping to accommodate Steph’s role.
The reigning dance champion has a busy schedule as he will be speaking with a former professional of the show AJ Pritchard, 26, and his brother Curtis Pritchard, 24, about their upcoming tour.
Bill will also be joined by presenter Miquita Oliver, 26, and former Home Secretary Alan Johnson, 70, to talk about the day’s headlines.
Speaking about replacing the regular host of the talk show, the comedian said he was “nervous” to be stepping into her shoes.

In a statement from Channel 4, Bill said of his new role: “I am delighted to be making my live TV debut with this show.
“It’ll be a little nerve-wracking, go by in a bit of a whirl, but a lot of fun… a bit like dancing, I imagine,” he added.
As well as the comedian and Richard filling in for Steph, Countryfile presenter Helen Skelton, 37, has hosted a couple of shows.
It was the latter who announced the mother-of-one had been forced to self-isolate, despite testing negative for coronavirus.

It’ll be a little nerve-wracking
Helen said: “Obviously, I’m not Steph. She is fine, but she is having to self-isolate. We miss you, Steph.
“I hope we do you proud, I’ll try not to break too many things,” she said last Friday.
Although the replacements have done their best to oversee proceedings, fans are eager to see the mother-of-one back at the forefront of the talk show.
One avid viewer wrote on Twitter: “Miss you Steph but also loving Helen – she has been brilliant. Didn’t watch with Richard Madeley – sorry. Hope you bring Helen back when you are on.”

Another added: “Miss you Steph but Helen is doing a smashing job – best show on TV at the moment, swear down.”
Whilst a third commented: “Hope isolation isn’t too bad. Hope you get back soon,” with a fourth posting: “Hope you’re staying safe Steph.”
It also seems the mother-of-one is excited to see Bill hosting her talk show as she retweeted the announcement on Twitter.
The official social media account for the show posted a picture of the Strictly champion with the caption: “Strap yourselves in, guys.”
“Hosting tomorrow’s [Friday’s] #PackedLunchC4 is the one and only Bill Bailey,” the post continued to read.
“Bez from the Happy Mondays will be one of his guests. A marriage made in heaven?” the caption concluded.
Bill’s new role will come just a few days after celebrating his 56th birthday at home, which he explained to fans in a Twitter post.
In view of his 3.3 million followers, he wrote on Wednesday: “Thanks for all your lovely birthday wishes – I will be celebrating at home with the family and some delicious Thai food. There may be dancing later.”
Steph’s Packed Lunch airs weekdays at 12:30pm on Channel 4.
