Strictly fans all make same observation about Molly and Carlos Halloween outfits

In light of Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu performing to Kate Bush’s Running Up That Hill for Halloween week, many Strictly Come Dancing viewers questioned why they were dressed as vampires.

The popular 80s track recently came back into circulation after heavily featuring in hit Netflix show Stranger Things.

With this in mind, Strictly fans felt the dancing duo missed a trick by not dressing as the show’s characters of Max and Vecna instead of vampires – arguably completely unrelated to the song.

“they’re dancing to running up that hill but dressing as vampires and not max and vecna? costume team missed this week!” wrote one aggrieved viewer.

“WHY IS THIS NOT STRANGER THINGS THEMED?? #Strictly,” wrote another during the pair’s performance.

Echoing similar sentiments, another went on: “Cannot believe they’re doing this song but it’s nothing to do with Stranger Things… #Strictly”.

“Molly & Carlos missed a trick not dressing like Stranger Things characters if they were dancing to Running Up That Hill, but assume they weren’t allowed to for some reason. Anyway, regardless, Craig & Anton were right, that Arg tango was missing intensity & cohesion,” wrote another.

In light of Running Up That Hill re-entering the charts over the summer, songstress Kate spoke with Emma Barnett on BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour.

Kate said it is "very special" that a new young audience had discovered her song and she told Radio 4 listeners that since the Netflix show aired it had been an "exciting" but also "shocking" time.

"It’s just extraordinary. I mean it’s such a great series, I thought that the track would get some attention,” Kate said.

"But I just never imagined that it would be anything like this. It’s so exciting. But it’s quite shocking really, isn’t it? I mean, the whole world’s gone mad."

She added: "What’s really wonderful, I think, is this is a whole new audience who, in a lot of cases, they’ve never heard of me and I love that.

"The thought of all these really young people hearing the song for the first time and discovering it is, well, I think it’s very special."

While she was a huge success in the 80s, Kate has kept a rather low profile ever since.

Kate burst onto the scene in 1978 just eight years later as she released her debut single Wuthering Heights, which topped the charts for four weeks. She became the very first female artist to achieve a UK number one with a self-written song, earning the respect of many.

Since then, she's released a further 25 UK Top 40 singles, including The Man with the Child in His Eyes, Babooshka, Running Up That Hill, Don't Give Up and King of the Mountain.

Despite having released a string of hit tracks, Kate didn’t embark on her official second tour until 2014 – decades on from her first.
