Strictly’s biggest ever blunders – from star mortified after ‘boobs popped out’ to Shirley Ballas’ VERY awkward gag | The Sun

STRICTLY Come Dancing has seen some of the most unlikely celebs go from lame to fame as they jived their way to success.

But with the hit talent show going into its 21st season this year, there have been plenty of blunders along the way.

From "drunk" falls to saucy Loose Woman gags and a heated dance-off row, we take a look at the best slips, trips and quips Strictly has offered up over the years.

What a boob

The audience got more than they bargained for when Ola Jordan's boob 'popped out' live on air.

In 2015, the professional dancer was partnered with Welsh sprinter Iwan Thomas, whose pre-game jitters got the better of him when it was announced the duo would be taking the floor together.

Iwan picked up petite Ola, span her around his torso and began doing body squats with her – shaking the poor woman uncontrollably.

Wrapped up in the excitement, Ola's boob managed to escape her dazzling outfit.

She later joked on Twitter (now X): "In this one second he ripped my skirt, broke my nail and my boobs popped out!!

"This is going to be a great series."

The actress took centre stage in 2011 but had an unfortunate wardrobe mishap when her partner Pasha Kovalev span her around.

Presenter Tess Daly assured her nobody saw anything but it didn't console Chelsee who knew her cleavage was laid bare.

To add insult to injury she slipped down the judges' scoreboard as she spent the last part of her dance ensuring her dress was held up.

She later took to social media saying: "Mortified I got upset on Strictly! Just upset that I let Pasha Kovalev down! He's worked so hard and I messed up."

Fleur re-run row

Last year's Strictly generated much controversy when it was revealed Fleur East was allowed to redo her performance.

The X Factor singer and Vito Coppola were amid a scintillating dance-off when the pair came "crashing down" due to a prop blunder.

Fleur reportedly lost her footing and took her partner down with her on a nearby chair, but the horrific moment never made it on TV.

Strictly was forced to issue a statement after it emerged they were allowed to start again – and ended up beating their rivals James Bye and Amy Dowden, who were sent home.

Doing the splits

Viewers were given an eyeful when Brendan Cole ripped his trousers after he finished off his repertoire with the splits in 2014.

The New Zealand dancer shuffled off stage on his knees following the energetic dance with Sunetra Sarker.

As he made it to the judging panel, a shocked Tess pointed out his wardrobe malfunction.

Lead judge Len Goodman added: "I think I saw your bongos."

But Brendan shrugged it off – with sources claiming he was "very upbeat" about the incident.

'Drunk' claims

Katya Jones fell over twice in one show in 2019, prompting viewers to ask if she was "drunk".

During a performance with Mike Bushell dancing to It's Raining Men, the professional slipped and fell.

However it was the second tumble that left even the panel stunned.

Claudia Winkleman, who was closest to the hazard, joked: "I didn't know whether that was a dance move, or whether she was doing a backwards roly-poly."

While the first mishap was real, Jones claimed tthe second was "on purpose".

On X the Russian dancer said: "FYI I did it again on purpose in Claudia’s area. And I'm definitely not drunk as some people think."

Awkward gaffe

Poor Shirley Ballas had only been on the show for a few weeks when she made an unintentional punny blunder.

Paralympian Jonnie Peacock, an amputee whose leg is fitted with a blade, and dance pro Oti Mabuse had just put on a top-notch Quickstep display when Shirley put her foot in it.

She told him: "You bring a whole new meaning to putting a spring in your step."

Laughing off the remark, the athlete returned the serve saying "excuse the pun" as he pointed out his disability.

Shirley covered her face in embarrassment and quipped: "I've said something wrong again, do you know what I mean?!"

Potty mouth

Bruno Tonioli's potty mouth has been known to break the strict pre-watershed rules during the live show.

After one dance from Jay McGuiness, he gleefully remarked: "Oh yeah, those are the bull's b*****ks!" before the camera panned to a mortified crowd.

In 2018 he went one step further when he critiqued TV presenter Stacey Dooley.

He said: "Off you went into a cloud of hairspray, then off into a medley of Stacey's greatest t**s – sorry, greatest hits!"

Voting dis-AH-ster

One of the worst controversies on the show came back in 2008, when a voting balls-up left the entire semi-final show essentially redundant.

As the episode drew to a close, Lisa Snowdon and Rachel Stevens tied at the top of the leaderboard, making the votes for third-placed Tom Chambers irrelevant.

The disaster saw the BBC field almost 200 complaints as a result.

Phone calls were refunded and Ofcom clearing the BBC in its ruling, concluding the mess was an "oversight".

Thankfully for the BBC, it has not happened again since.

Saucy straddle

After their 2017 Paso Doble, Anton Du Beke and Ruth Langsford took a tumble that left them in a 'compromising' position.

After a whirlwind of a performance, Anton's legs fell out from beneath him and he hit the deck, pulling Ruth down on top of him.

Making the most out of an undesirable situation, Ruth straddled Anton in full view of her husband Eamonn Holmes, who was laughing his head off in the crowd.

Host Tess was also left in stitches, quipping "that definitely wasn't planned".

Mic mayhem

Back in 2006, Karen Hardy and Mark Ramprakash saw their flamboyant salsa come to a grinding to a halt after their microphones got tangled.

As the cricketer took to the floor with his partner, the pair started to tear up the dance floor at full steam before Karen waved her hands for a pause.

Once untangled, the iconic duo soon got strutting away again and even went on to lift the glitterball trophy that season.

Flash dance

Stacey Dooley's racy Paso Doble entered new heights when the Strictly winner frolicked with her costume.

Audience members were sent into a spin after they thought she had flashed them without wearing any knickers as she cheekily smiled towards her partner Kevin Clifton.

One fan took to X and said: "Why was Stacey flashing her Dooley?"

It was later put down to a wardrobe malfunction, in which Stacey wore a nude coloured bodysuit.
