HBO’s black comedy from Peep Show co-creator Jesse Armstrong is about to end its first run on Sky Atlantic in the UK but it’s already been commissioned for a second season.
Succession, which came to an end in the US in August, was renewed just as the show began airing so fans can look forward to more adventures featuring the Roy family.
The dysfunctional dramedy set in New York follows the dynasty’s disintegration and is based on real-life international media conglomerates and figures like Rupert Murdoch, Robert Maxwell and Hearst’s own William Randolph Hearst.
Here’s everything we know about Succession season two so far.
Succession season 2 release date: When is it out?
No official date has been announced, as of yet. If it follows the same schedule as the first, though, Succession will return to screens in June 2019.
Succession season 2 trailer: When can I see it?
With filming yet to begin on the next batch of episodes, it might be some time before a trailer is released. Fans might be treated to one before the end of the year but more likely it will hit in the spring of next year.
Succession season 2 cast: Who’s back?
The main cast members all look set to return for season two of Succession.
Leading is Brian Cox as patriarch Logan Roy with Jeremy Strong in tow as his son Kendall. Other sons Connor and Roman, played by Alan Ruck and Kieran Culkin respectively, and daughter Shiv (Sarah Snook) complete the family line-up.
Also expected to reprise their roles are: Hiam Abbass (Marcy Roy), Nicholas Braun (Greg Hirsch), and Peter Friedman (Frank Vernon).
Regarding new characters coming into the show, series creator Armstrong was doubtful. He told The Hollywood Reporter: “It’s too early to say, I’m afraid. Not impossible, but not definitely.”
Has also ruled out celeb cameos from the world it mirrors. No Rupert Murdoch, then.
Succession season 2 episodes: Where can I watch?
Stateside, viewers have been enjoying the Roy family’s antics on HBO whereas it’s shown on Sky Atlantic in the UK, and is available as a box set on NOW TV.
Both channels will continue to air the show next year.
Succession season 2 plot: What will happen?
The next season is expected to pick up the aftermath of the first’s finale. Kendall Roy was about to take control of his father’s company but, having accidentally killed a waiter, Logan agrees to take care of the situation if Kendall agrees to give up his aggressive takeover plans.
Jesse Armstrong has said that things will change for the Roy Family in season two, telling Thrillist: “We’re committed to this quite exciting new world where maybe Kendall and Logan become something of a unit for a while.”
Armstrong also told The Hollywood Reporter about what’s coming up next year. “People will find it interesting to see how the theme park runs, and the news channel and some other divisions of the company,” he said.
