Susanna Reid warns Holly Willoughby hands off as Ben Shephard returns to GMB

Susanna Reid has told Holly Willoughby to keep her "hands off” Ben Shephard as he made his return to Good Morning Britain.

The hit ITV show returned for another instalment on Thursday (September 28) with Susanna and Ben back at the helm. But things took an award turn within just minutes of the programme airing after Susanna confronted Ben over him swapping GMB for This Morning.

As viewers will know, Ben left his GMB hosting duties this week to step in and co-host This Morning, alongside Holly Willoughby. And Susanna was quick to bring it up on GMB.

“Well you’re on the wrong show Ben Shephard,” Susanna said on GMB. Ben replied: “I’ve been moonlighting next door.”

Susanna added: “I feel like you’ve been cheating actually, I saw you with another woman.” Ben laughed and said: “Yes and how lovely and friendly she was.”

Not looking impressed Susanna quipped: “Ok don’t get any ideas,” before she attempted to do an impression of Ben. “Oh you looked kind of flirty, ‘Ooo Holly, Ooo Holly, I got a bit of a lie in’,” she joked.

Susanna went on: “He was texting me you know, he was going ‘they make you cheesecake on this show.’” Ben explained: “There is many lovely things about the show next door.

“Although my alarm went off this morning I had no idea what it was,” he said. Susanna replied: “You have to get up early – Holly you can’t have him!”

Ben was still happy to be back in the GMB studio though. He quipped: “It’s nice to come back and be with family isn’t it.” Susanna agreed and replied: “Yeah stay here, we want you here, hands off Holly!”

The and Tipping Point star joined This Morning as the latest in a series of new co-hosts for Holly Willoughby after Phillip Schofield left. He started earlier this week and so far the shake-up has got the thumbs up as Ben has gone down a storm with viewers. Some people have even admitted that they were only tuning in to see him on the sofa.

"Very glad Ben is back today," one fan posted on X, formerly Twitter, as Tuesday's instalment (26 September) of the daytime programme got under way. Another person said the TV star was "brilliant". A third said: "Only watching because Ben is on."
