Ted Danson's Net Worth and How Much He Gets Paid to Star in 'The Good Place' – The Cheat Sheet

By now, there aren’t many long-time television comedy fans who don’t know Ted Danson’s name. Though the show he’s probably most famous for ended almost 30 years ago, he has still managed to build an impressive portfolio since the finale aired — and a net worth to match.

It’s not at all surprising that someone considered a veteran in the elite Hollywood scene has accumulated a sizable net worth since his career began.

But exactly how much is Ted Danson worth — and what was he up to between the end of Cheers and the start of The Good Place? Plus, why one of his costars thinks it’s totally acceptable that he earns more per episode than Kristen Bell.

Danson is best known for playing Sam Malone on Cheers. The role won him multiple awards and a handful of award nominations. But even though his acting career seemed to slow down after the show’s finale, it didn’t stop completely.

When the beloved TV series ended in 1993, fans assumed his acting career was far from over. And they were right. He has appeared in dozens of films, TV movies, and television series since the early 1990s, including Becker (1998-2004), CSI, and Fargo.

The Good Place premiered in 2016 and is now in its third season.

How much does Ted Danson make on The Good Place?

Some sources estimate Danson makes about $250,000 per episode of The Good Place — apparently a lot more than his fellow actors on the show. This is less than what he made per episode during peak Cheers ($500,000), but we’re not even three full seasons in. There’s still time.

He reportedly earns at least $100,000 more per episode than Kristen Bell for appearing in the same number of episodes. However, when Jameela Jamil revealed their “pay gap,” she made sure to clarify it wasn’t a gender issue.

“There is a pay gap between Ted Danson and Kristen Bell,” she said. “But he was in Cheers, he is a national treasure. It’s not just about gender, that’s about what you bring to the table.

Unlike his The Good Place costars, Danson’s acting career spans decades. His first TV credits date back to  the 1970s, and the show that “made him famous” ran for 11 years (from 1982 to 1993).

Throughout the long-running series, Danson won multiple awards for his role as Sam Malone — including two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and two Golden Globe Awards for Best Actor in a Television Series, Musical, or Comedy.

So far, he has won one Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Michael on The Good Place.

All those TV and film roles certainly add up. His seemingly endless list of acting credits spanning decades has earned him an estimated net worth of about $60 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
