The Apprentice returned to screens for its penultimate episode on Thursday (March 16) and Lord Alan Sugar stunned fans with a brutal dig aimed at a fired contestant.

Last week, it was revealed that Dani Donovan, Marnie Swindells, Megan Hornby, Rochelle Anthony and Victoria Goulbourne were just two tasks away from landing Lord Sugar's £250,000 investment.

During tonight's episode, the contestants sat down for Interviews week where they faced the scrutiny of Lord Sugar, 75, as well as his most trusted advisors, Karren Brady and Tim Campbell.

The first contestant fired was former flight attendant Victoria, who launched an online sweet brand which she hailed "the UK's most Instagrammable pick 'n' mix".

The businessman told her: "The thing is, Victoria, there is nothing unique about your market, your business. Frankly, I'm not sweet on your idea".

He then proceeded to fire the blonde beauty before she thanked him for the opportunity.

As she walked out of the board room, Lord Sugar urged: "Keep it as a hobby".

Victoria nervously laughed and rolled her eyes, muttering "thanks" under her breath as she opened the door.

"No it makes a good hobby," the TV personality added.

Viewers were stunned at the brutal dig and took to social media to share their thoughts regarding the comment.

One fan wrote: "'Good hobby' – literally the most patronising comment ever from Lord Sugar to Victoria when she left the Board Room #TheApprentice".

"Telling Victoria to keep doing her business as a hobby was a bit harsh bless her," added a second viewer.

Another person shared: "Fair amount of patronising of Victoria going on there tonight – quite unpleasant – from telling her to go back to being cabin crew, to keeping her business 'as a hobby'."

A fourth echoed: "I have so much respect for Victoria – her business plan was a non-starter but she has clearly worked so hard and did make the final five, and “keep it as a hobby” was the most horribly condescending way to end her series".

While someone else penned: "Not sure how victoria didn’t start swinging after Alan said to “keep it as a hobby”".

Lord Sugar also fired Dani and Megan, meaning Rochelle and Marnie are the final two contestants left competing to win the £250,000 investment.
