ANNE Hegarty has bagged herself a new job away from the show that shot her to fame.

The famous quizzer, best known as The Governess on ITV's The Chase, has revealed she has a new job that has nothing to do with her impressive general knowledge.

The 64-year-old, quizzer has just landed a new screen acting job in an upcoming sitcom.

According to the Mirror, Anne revealed that she was picked to play a housekeeper in new show “Gammon”, created by Adam Bostock-Smith, who writes for the hit quiz show.

Anne, nicknamed The Governess on The Chase, says she always asks writer Adam to give her some funny lines because she loves comedy so much.

She says she is "thrilled" with this new opportunity, and shared: "Being on The Chase is the best job I’ve ever had but I’d love to do a bit of acting.

"I would like to be funny. Our writer Adam has written a sitcom called Gammon about these two dim brothers who live together.

"I’m the housekeeper and I’m the only sane person in the place.”

With no word of the release date or where the sitcom will be aired, fans on Twitter are already speculating it could be the popular British soap, EastEnders.

Anne first joined The Chase back in 2010 and became a household name, after being chosen to appear on the 2018 series of I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
