Anne Hegerty says Jeremy Clarkson ‘doesn’t know’ who she is
The Chase’s Anne Hegerty made a cheeky swipe towards Jeremy Clarkson after he claimed he didn’t know who she was.
During a recent episode of the ITV quiz show, contestants Dave, Matt, Suzanne and Beth took on Anne to win a life-changing sum of money.
Stepping up to the table, Beth was playing for £4,000 to take back to the main bank, where Anne made the revelation about Jeremy Clarkson.
Reading out the question, Bradley Walsh asked: “The prize on the TV series ‘Fastest Finger First’ is a guaranteed place on what other game show?”
The options were Sitting on a Fortune, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and Tipping Point, which Beth chose the correct answer of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.

Anne also chose the correct answer and revealed: “On the original show, apparently I came up as an option and Jeremy Clarkson said I can’t help you I have never heard of her.
“Cheers Jezza,” she quipped, before the audience laughed and Bradley questioned: “Is that really? He has never heard of you? Crickey!”
The moment in question came when a contestant on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire was asked: “Since 2016, who has hosted the TV game show that requires teams of five to name items in the top 10 lists.”
The options were Warwick Davis, Phillip Schofield, Adil Ray and Anne Hegerty, which left the contestant to note: “This sounds like Family Fortunes to me.
“And I used to watch it in the Les Dennis days but I haven’t watched it in a long long time, assuming this is actually Family Fortunes.

“So, I think I am going to use a lifeline, Jeremy I would like to ask you please,” leaving the former Top Gear star to rise from his seat.
He noted: “OK. Here is what I think. I haven’t even heard of two of these people… Adil Ray and Anne Hegerty.
“I can’t even think what the game show is! I cannot help you on this one and that is my final answer.”
Unfortunately for Beth and Suzanne, they were caught by Anne and left Dave and Matt to play in the Final Chase.
Despite their best efforts, they only managed 12 steps and Anne managed to catch them with one minute to spare.
The Chase airs weekdays from 5pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
