‘The Beast’, Mark Labbett, discusses his weight loss
ITV quiz show favourite Mark Labbett says he has lost his appetite after his incredible nine-stone weight loss.
The 57-year-old, who is best known as “The Beast” on the ITV quiz show The Chase, used to weigh 29 stone at his heaviest but, following a type 2 diabetes diagnosis, he gave his lifestyle a complete overhaul.
The dad-of-one completely cut down on his sugar intake and has previously revealed his beloved golden retriever Baloo helped get him into the habit of exercising regularly, dubbing the pooch his ‘personal trainer’.
Appearing on GB News alongside girlfriend Hayley Palmer on Saturday (July 29), Mark explained how he has lost his appetite since losing weight, and also revealed how he would love to appear on Strictly Come Dancing.
“Now I’m a lot lighter and fitter I’d love to do it, but obviously that’s up to the powers that be”, said Mark.

Asked how he lost the weight, the quiz expert explained: “It was a combination of so many things. Covid etc. I had it a couple of times, which suppressed the appetite.
“My wife was working at the local hospital, which meant I was looking after our son and you suddenly realise how tough it is. I’m just not that hungry anymore,” he added.
Mark is separated from his ex-wife Katie and has found love again with TV presenter Hayley Palmer, 41, two years on from their split.
As the new couple appeared on GB News together, the show’s hosts hinted one of the reasons Mark might have lost his appetite is because he is in love.

Mark then discussed his desire to take part in BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing as Hayley also suggested he would be great on the popular show.
She said: “I think he’d be good at that because I used to be a dancer so I’d be like, ‘Right, this is what you need to do. This is your homework’.”
Mark then revealed: “We’ve set ourselves a little goal. I’d like to get on Strictly and she’d like to get on Dancing on Ice. I can’t do Dancing on Ice because my ankle is far too inflexible, they tested me last year. But, you know, Strictly will be fine.”
Hayley and Mark met at last year’s National Television Awards, but it wasn’t until recently that they went public with their relationship.
