ROYAL telly hit The Crown has given fans their first look at Princess Diana in her wedding dress on the show – and it's stunningly accurate.
Actress Emma Corrin, 24, looks just like the late Princess of Wales in an image released by the Netflix drama this weekend.
The engagement and early marriage of Charles and Diana will be the main focus of the drama's fourth series when it returns in November.
And designers on the show were determined to capture the spirit of the dress designed by David and Elizabeth Emanuel for the 1981 wedding.
A source told The Sun: “The Crown costume designer wanted to create something that wasn’t an exact replica of Lady Diana’s original dress but which captured the same spirit and style of the Emanuels' iconic design.
"Amy Roberts, our designer, spoke to David Emanuel in depth about the original sketches and designs that were featured in the press release issued on the day of the wedding.
"He was fantastically collaborative and helpful to the design team and talked through the detail of many of the original drawings, but didn’t come on the set while we were filming.”
The picture of Emma's Diana in the dress has thrilled the show's millions of fans around the world, with some insisting it left them feeling faint.
One wrote: "She really looks like Diana, I had to do a double take" while another said: "I just collapsed OMG."
The Crown's fourth series series, which was finished before Covid restrictions hit filming, is expected to end in the 1980s as the fifth will pick up the story in the early 90s.
The sixth season, the show's last, will take events up to 2003 – six years after Diana's untimely death.
Pictures released last week gave fans another look at what is in store in the fourth series, with Emma's princess seen being photographed as she arrived at an event.
They also showed Gillian Anderson appearing as Margaret Thatcher, with the 52-year-old pictured waving on the steps of 10 Downing Street.
Olivia Colman will return as Queen Elizabeth, after taking over from Claire Foy in the role during the third series.
