Fans of the US iteration of the chaotic celebrity talent show, The Masked Singer, were stunned when the iconic Muppet Kermit the Frog was revealed as the first elimination of season five. Now all bets are off for the unpredictable Fox series, could some of his favourite friends also be hiding under the new masks?
Kermit the Frog has hinted his ex-girlfriend Miss Piggy could be appearing in the current season of The Masked Singer US.
In a tell-all interview with Entertainment Weekly, the famous Muppet revealed the ins and outs of his unprecedented reveal as season five’s first unmasking.
Described by the series as an ‘A-List amphibian’, the famous frog sadly failed to impress the voters with his rendition of Hall & Oates’ ‘You Make My Dreams’ in last week’s season premiere.
The Snail became the first contender to be sent packing in season five, and audiences were baffled and thrilled when Kermit popped out the costume.
With the first non-human contestant having been sent home, viewers have been left wondering what else The Masked Singer could have in store this season.
Speaking to EW, Kermit confirmed his ex-wife and frequent collaborator Miss Piggy is definitely interested in being part of the series.
He revealed: “Miss Piggy is definitely watching. And I hear she wants to be on the show, too.”
However, the pampered pig naturally has a number of conditions to be met before she makes her final decision.
Kermit continued: “She’d sing, but refuses to wear a mask.
“Or as she told the producers: ‘When you look as good as moi, you don’t hide inside a snail.’”
It appears Miss Piggy is currently meeting with Fox to discuss an appearance, potentially in The Masked Singer’s sixth season later this year.
Unfortunately, Miss Piggy remains the Muppets’ biggest diva, and discussions could fall through if her demands aren’t satisfied.

Finally, Kermit added: “I understand they’re still in negotiations. Good luck with that.”
Some perceptive fans of The Masked Singer speculated Kermit’s appearance was made possible after Fox’s merger with Disney, who own the Muppets.
After Kermit the Frog of all people has been revealed as a contestant, there’s no telling who could be unmasked next as the competition gets underway.
Unfortunately, the famous green entertainer is sworn to secrecy even if some of his other Muppet buddies are due to appear later in the season.
He explained: “I had all of the Muppets sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement.
“Just to be extra safe, when I went to do Masked Singer I turned off the WiFi, locked the stage door and kept them distracted by giving them a room full of bubble wrap to pop.
“This way they couldn’t tell anyone anything until after the show was over.”
Kermit’s performance as the Snail has certainly set a high benchmark for celebrity guests, so Masked Singer fans won’t want to miss another second of the show’s rollercoaster fifth season.
The Masked Singer season 5 continues Wednesday, March 17 on Fox.
