A GUEST on The Repair Shop broke down in tears as he revealed the tragic truth behind his special bee ornament.

Expert Will Kirk got emotional and was left 'speechless' as the man explained the item's tragic story and the reason for the restoration. 

During a recent episode of The Repair Shop, emotions were high as Will welcomed Quenton and his stepson Tim, who had brought in a broken bee garden ornament given to him by his late grandson, who tragically passed at the age of 15, three months ago.

Will got teary-eyed as the guest broke down and explained why he was in the iconic barn while repairs expert Brenton West was tasked with restoring the item, which was detached at the neck.

Quenton presented Brenton and Will with the precious item and explained: "He bought it for me, and [he] brought it around, and he used to call me Gramps, so this is Gran-bee.

"It's been out in the garden since he bought it in 2014, and of course, the elements have got to it, and that it is very special."

He tried to hold back his tears but began to break down in tears as he tried to find the words to explain exactly how the item meant to him.

As tears filled his eyes and he became overrun with emotions Quenton tried to continue: "The reason is…" 

Fortunately, Tim chipped in to help his stepdad, who couldn't continue.

He said: "About 18 months ago, Miles was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, which is a very, very aggressive bone cancer, and subsequently he had his leg amputated.

"And he was a really sporty kid, so it was horrible to see him go through it, but he did it like everything he did in life, with gusto and full on and, 'I'm gonna beat this', and unfortunately he lost the battle with cancer. He was 15."

An emotional-looking Will then asked in a sober tone: "When did Miles pass away?"

Quenton then sadly confirmed that Miles had died three months ago, as he went on: "I just want people to know and to be aware of what Miles went through."

While struggling to fight back tears, he added: "He was a tremendous kid, and if I can highlight and help anyone else, brilliant, but this is just for Miles."

The pair then shared Miles' backstory, explaining to the experts how he used to compete in sporting competitions worldwide.

Quenton shared proudly: "We went to Paris, Germany, we went to Holland for football and roller hockey.

He then pleaded to Brenton: "I'd like you to make it look brand new for me."

"Back together again."
