The View: Shock as Joy Behar asks guest to take top off

ABC’s hit talk show The View took a surprising turn when Joy Behar got hot under the collar after seeing chef Michael Symon’s birthday post.

On Friday, Joy returned to the panel alongside Sunny Hostin, Alyssa Farah Griffin, Ana Navarro and guest co-host Deborah Roberts.

During the live broadcast, they were joined by Michael who stopped by to promote his latest cookbook, Simply Symon Suppers.

As the ladies watched the chef make a special dish from his book, Ana revealed he had recently celebrated his 54th birthday.

After confirming the news, he was met with a roar of applause from the studio just moments before he would be left red-faced.

Ana continued: “And last year for your birthday you posted a very sexy picture,” which appeared on the screen.

The panelists were taken aback as they admired the image of the chef’s toned and topless body, while he was visibly embarrassed and taken by surprise.

Michael exclaimed: “Oh,” as his abs and abundant tattoos were put on display.

Joy was particularly shocked and in disbelief, as she called out his full name and turned to the audience with a grin.

When Michael laughed: “Joy, don’t look at me like that,” she pointed at the chef and demanded: “Let me see it, is that real?”

He hit back: “Yes, its real and I am not taking my shirt off. I have my apron on.”

However, the audience commended and applauded Joy’s failed effort to see Michael topless in the flesh.

Addressing the photo, Michael added: “The only problem with posting that picture and why I didn’t post it again this year, I’m in better shape this year, but I have a Greek and Sicilian mother.

“She’s like ‘Why’d you have to show everybody all those da*n tattoos’ so no more posts.”

In 2022, Michael posted the photo on Instagram in honour of his birthday and to show fans the progress he’s made in his health and fitness journey.

He captioned the post: “Wasn’t gonna post because quite honestly would give my friends a lot of s**t if they posted this … but hell with it .. have worked my a** off for past 18 months to get in shape for my 53rd bday.”
