Alison Hammond was left stunned on This Morning after her co-host Dermot O'Leary called her out on her charity shop confession.
During Friday's show (October 20), Dermot, 50, told 48-year-old Alison to "tell the truth" after she said she found £20 in a handbag while in a charity shop and decided to give it away. Failing to contain her laughter, Alison bit back after she was caught out for twisting the truth.
Laughing while explaining the rest of story, Alison admitted she actually used the £20 she found in the bag to purchase the item that was worth £15. She then admitted to keeping the change.
After being asked to recall the story, Dermot said: She went to a charity shop and she bought the handbag for £15 for charity and she kept the £5 change." Dermot who also found the story funny was seen in fits of giggles too.
But once all the laughter had ceased, fans at home had a rather mixed reaction to Alison's admission. One social media user said: "I think that's bloody disgusting that rich Alison Hammond just lied that she donated £20 that she found to charity. She wouldn't have owned up if Dermot hadn't caught her out."
Another viewer fumed: "Didn't try to reunite the £20 with the owner then, not the first time she has given money away though." But although she did receive some backlash, others found the story rather hilarious.
Offering an opposing view, one viewer said: "Who doesn't love Alison [laughing emoji] you deserve that 20quid." While another fan laughed: "Dermot's face when Alison said she found £20 & gave it to charity & asked Alison to tell the truth."
