Trigger Point fans ‘work out’ new suspect after clues in cliffhanger episode

Every so often a TV show comes along that completely captivates audiences and has them second guessing every little twist and turn.

The latest drama that has sparked such ‘water cooler’ moments up and down the country, and set social media alight, is ITV’s Trigger Point.

The six-part series, led by Line of Duty actress Vicky McClure, sees her character Lana Washington trying to get to the bottom of an elaborate bomb plot.

Recent episodes have seen Lana, who has tragically lost both best mate Joel ‘Nut’ Nutkins (Adrian Lester) and brother Billy (Ewan Mitchell), correctly predict that her fellow bomb disposal operative John Hudson (Kris Hitchen) was the man behind the co-ordinated London attacks.

But fans are convinced John can’t be acting alone and that someone we’ve already met is really pulling the strings behind the scenes.

And the latest name to come into the frame after the last cliffhanger is none other than Inspector Lee Robbins (Cal MacAninch), as viewers flocked to social media to point fingers at the leader of the Metropolitan Police's Specialist Firearms Command.

One avid viewer wrote on Twitter: ‘Still think this Inspector Lee Robbins is very dodgy.’

While another questioned: ‘What if Lee Robbins (the Scottish specialist firearms commander guy) is involved with the bombings in Trigger Point???’

They continued: ‘Obviously he’s not the personal link towards Lana but I can’t stop thinking that he’s actually the military link or is involved in some way.

Meanwhile, a third eagle-eyed fan wrote: ‘Still think Inspector Lee Robbins, the Scottish chap, is a baddie. Sure he planted something at the bomb scene in episode 2.’

Others pointed out that the camera often lingers on his reactions, cuts to him when it doesn’t seem necessary, and that he’s always on the scene when something bad is about to happen.

While many described police worker Lee as shady and said their money was on him to be unmasked as the culprit and ring leader.

This comes after viewers previously revealed they were growing increasingly suspicious of Lana’s love interest Karl Maguire (Luther actor Warren Brown).

The former military man, who has embarked on a romance with Lana since the two bonded over their traumatic pasts, appears to be helping her in her hour of need.

But fans are worried that he’s not all he seems and that his clear military past and troubled state of mind could lead to him being involved in the plot.

One fan wrote on social media: ‘I think Karl is very dodgy. He’s definitely involved somewhere. Poor Wash! She’s been through so much.’

Another added: ‘Is John being set up? For some reason I’m not trusting Karl… and I don’t know why he isn’t working…’
