David’s (Matthew Wolfenden) hairbrained scheme to protect his driver’s licence over his romance will have dire consequences for his future with Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) in Emmerdale. His fraudulent actions may leave her with no choice but to walk away from him for good.
The reality of his stupidity in secretly naming Victoria as the driver who was speeding rather than himself comes in the form of a letter, which makes his heart leap into his mouth while rifling through the post.
It’s addressed to Victoria and is from the police, and inside contains all the details of his lie.
This sees him commit crime number two, he opens another person’s post. In doing so he reads that she has been issued a fixed penalty notice, and his day gets a little bit worse.
David is beside himself with guilt which only multiplies when Jacob and Victoria walk in to reveal their plans to support his new delivery scheme.
They want to back him all the way, reaffirming to him that he is an awful human being. Even worse, he has no intention of coming clean.
In classic David style he buries his head in the sand and hopes it goes away rather than doing the right thing. This is another tactic that doesn’t usually work out well for him.
David is distracted with his business but left in charge of the kids. With his back turned for a moment, Harry is injured, and David has yet another thing to hate himself for.
He takes little Harry to hospital and Victoria rushes over to be with her son. On the way, she drives through some temporary lights and is stopped by a waiting police car.
She has no choice but to admit her mistake, which comes with a fine and points. Thinking the situation is taken care of, she heads to the hospital where she learns David opened the shop and left the children unsupervised, directly placing Harry in danger.
Seeing her so full of rage forces him to shelve any ounce of desire to reveal the truth about the fixed penalty.
But it’s only a matter of time before she discovers she now has six points on her licence. That coupled with Harry’s injuries, will Vic decide enough is enough?
