We know Jon Bernthal will be reprising his role as Shane Walsh once more in The Walking Dead‘s upcoming season – but what about about Heath?
Heath was last seen in the divisive season seven, episode six episode ‘Swear’, which centred on his and Tara Chambler’s scavenging mission leading them to Oceanside.
Heath and Tara found themselves separated, and while Tara did not find Heath, the episode implied that he got away safely as he took the vehicle they used.
The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman has now suggested that we could see the return of his character sometime down the line, insisting that he has not been “forgotten”.
“Corey Hawkins, who played Heath, very great actor,” he said at San Diego Comic-Con (via ComicBook.com). “He got busy on a lot of things, [had] different things happening, this is what happens in the world.
“And so I wouldn’t want to spoil things, like it’s entirely possible that he could be coming back at some point, but we’ll see. We have not forgotten Heath. And everyone will remember that character when he comes back.”
Oscar nominee and BAFTA winner Samantha Morton will join The Walking Dead this season to play Alpha, leader of new threat The Whisperers, while Andrew Lincoln has confirmed that he will be leaving his role of Rick Grimes.
The new season of The Walking Dead set to premiere October 7 on AMC in the US and shortly afterwards on FOX in the UK.
