ACTOR Drew Carey has been the host of the CBS game show The Price Is Right since August 2007.

The Price Is Right revolves around contestants competing by identifying accurate pricing of merchandise to win cash and prizes.

What happened to Drew Carey from The Price Is Right?

Carey was "overcome with grief" after the death of his ex-fiancée Dr Amie Harwick, who was killed on February 15, 2020.

Harwick and Carey were engaged for about a year before the two split up in 2018.

Harwick, 38, was a well-known Hollywood family and sex therapist who appeared in the 2015 documentary Addicted to Sexting.

On February 15, 2020, the doctor was found unresponsive beneath a third-story balcony at her home in Hollywood Hills, California.

Police discovered Harwick was murdered by an ex-boyfriend Gareth Pursehouse, 41, after the restraining order she took out against him expired.

Officers had responded to a report of a “woman screaming” in a Hollywood Hills neighborhood, the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement.

She had been thrown from her third-floor apartment's balcony, according to police.

Shortly after the news, the production for The Price Is Right was halted as Carey grieved Harwick's death.

“Amie and I had a love that people are lucky to have once in a lifetime,” Carey said in a statement at the time.

“She was a positive force in the world, a tireless and unapologetic champion for women, and passionate about her work as a therapist. I am overcome with grief.

"I would like to thank you in advance for giving myself and everyone who loved Amie privacy while we try to work through this tragic situation.”

Did Drew Carey call for domestic violence law reform?

On February 19, 2020, Drew Carey shared a Change.org petition called “Justice 4 Amie” on Twitter and asked his followers to “please sign” or “chip in if you can.”

The Change.org petition, made by friend Diana Arias and directed at California local and state legislators, says Amie Harwick “was murdered as a result of poor laws not protecting the victims and treating the offenders.”

The petition further read: “Amie had a restraining order in place against a violent ex boyfriend from a decade ago. The restraining order expired.”

“This man for years clearly needed treatment. She should have never had to be in this situation like so many other victims.”

“If Amie's murder can save countless other lives like she was doing when she was alive then it makes this pain of her death not in vain,” concluded the organizers of the petition.

What happened on The Price Is Right on April 21, 2021?

On April 21, 2021, two contestants made moves on The Price Is Right that went down in the game show's history book after making near-perfect spins.

The show saw a record two contestants hit $1 on the Big Wheel on the same day or play.

Contestant Kiara Thomas bid the exact amount in her first toss-up prize, giving her a $500 bonus.

She then spun 20cents for her first spin and the remaining 80 cents for her second.

Her third spin landed right on the money as it reached $1.

Later, contestant Jack Zager took to the stage where a near-identical play happened.

Zager hit 40cents, then 60cents and the record-breaking $1 on his third bonus.

Never in the show’s history have two contestants landed it on the exact same day.

Each contestant on the Price is Right is given the chance to spin the Big Wheel twice in the hopes their total will add up to $1.

If they succeed, they are given $1000, along with an extra bonus spin.

If a contestant then lands on $1 on the bonus spin alone, they go home with an additional $25,000.
